The documentary also highlights his return to competitive play in the semi-finals of the Champions League against Real Madrid; the trophy he lifted in Wembley; the support from his team-mates and the fans, and his return to training in Val d’Arán six months after his liver transplant surgery.
The documentary’s title - ‘Abidal, your struggle is our source of strength’ - is a phrase that Tito Vilanova dedicated to the Frenchman after the Joan Gamper Trophy Estrella Damm match. The Barça manager reassured the Abidal that the team would wait - no matter how long - for his return.
